As I was driving to work this morning I heard about a study on the radio.
How people want to be remembered by others
The top answer was surprising to start but I after thinking it through a short while I agree. The top answer was people want to be seen as trustworthy. This even beat nice, kind and fun.
However how many people actually try to actively be trustworthy?
Many just take the easy road by saying they will do something but don’t, or just lie to start with. Martial arts is very much about honesty and trust. Without these basic character traits how is a student meant to trust an instructor or visa-versa.
If the seed of dishonesty is sown it is extremely hard to regain any trust that may have been build. Trust is a fragile thing; a single lie can bring all that trust come crashing down. This is why honesty is written on the wall in big red letters in every MAC academy.
As a student you are actively making a better impression on anyone you have met, do meet and will meet in the future. You are closer to that life goal of being remembered by others how you want them to remember you.
What are your thoughts on this?
How would you like to be remembered by others?
More importantly, are you actively taking steps to make sure you are remembered the way you want?
